Converta is a buyer-facing currency-display app for OpoShop stores. It shows each shopper the store's prices in their own currency, at live daily exchange rates, with a manual switcher. It is display-only: OpoShop checkout still charges in the store's real currency, and the widget tells shoppers so. This policy explains exactly what data Converta accesses, why, and how it is protected.
Converta reads just one thing from your store — its base currency — to convert prices for display. It never touches checkout or payments, never stores payment card data, has no shopper accounts, uses a shopper's country only in the moment to pick a currency (and never stores it), keeps only anonymous per-currency counts, scopes every record to your store, and never sells data.
1. Merchant store data (via OpoShop OAuth)
When you install Converta from OpoShop, you authorize it with a single read-only scope
(users:read). Converta uses it to read your store's set base currency (for example
USD, GBP, or EUR) so it knows what currency your prices are in and can convert them for display. That is the
only store data Converta reads. Converta never writes to your store, never reads your customers, orders, or
payouts, and never places, edits, cancels, or fulfills anything.
2. Shopper location (used in the moment, never stored)
To auto-select a shopper's currency, Converta looks at the coarse 2-letter country for the request — supplied by the hosting edge network — or, as a fallback, the region hint in the browser's own language setting. This is used transiently to choose which currency to display and is then discarded. Converta does not store the shopper's IP address, does not track shoppers across sites, and does not build any shopper profile. A shopper's manual currency choice is remembered only in their own browser (localStorage) so their preference sticks on return.
3. No payment card data, no checkout access
Converta only changes how prices are displayed. It never receives, stores, or has access to payment card details or any billing information, and it never participates in checkout. OpoShop checkout charges in your store's real currency exactly as it always did — the converted figures a shopper sees are for reference, and the widget states this clearly.
4. Exchange rates
Converta fetches exchange rates from a free, public exchange-rate feed and caches them in Converta's own database, refreshing about once per day. Rate fetching is a server-to-server call about currencies only — it contains no merchant or shopper data.
5. Where data is stored
Converta data lives in Converta's own dedicated per-store database. Each store's settings are isolated and scoped to that store — no store can see another's data. Your OpoShop access token is stored securely and used only to read your store's base currency on your behalf.
6. Analytics
Converta counts, per day, how many times prices were shown in each currency and how many times shoppers switched currency. These are anonymous aggregate counts — a tally per currency, never tied to an individual shopper, IP, or location. Converta also uses privacy-respecting product analytics (PostHog) to improve the app itself, tagged with a non-identifying store id — never a shopper's personal information.
7. We never sell your data
Converta does not sell, rent, or share your store data with third parties for their own use.
8. Retention & deletion
Converta keeps only your display settings, your store's cached base currency, and the anonymous per-currency counts. If you uninstall Converta, processing of your store's data stops and your data can be removed on request. To request deletion, email us.
